Boutier takes 4-shot lead into final round of Évian Championship ÉVIAN-LES-BAINS, France (AP) — Céline Boutier carded a 4-under 67 in the third round of the Évian Championship on Saturday to increase her lead to four shots going into the final day.The 29-year-old Boutier aims to become the first Frenchwoman to win the tournament, which became a major in 2013.“I didn’t start that good to be honest. I missed the first three greens but got a good break on 2 and was able to chip in. Then I just had really good chances on the two par-fives, seven and nine, and was able to take advantage of that,” said Boutier, who had a bogey on the 12th hole in a round of five birdies.“I was just trying to focus on making, hitting a good shot, and if I happen to have a birdie opportunity, I hit a solid putt. It was definitely positive and felt pretty good to start very good on the front.”Boutier’s closest challenger is Japan’s Nasa Hataoka, who posted a 68 on Saturday after rounds of 70 and 67.“Hopefully I will get more birdies tomorrow. It was good iron ...

Port workers in Canada’s British Columbia reject contract offer leaving ports hamstrung by dispute VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Port workers in British Columbia have rejected a mediated contract offer meant to end a labor dispute that stopped goods from moving in and out of harbors, including at Canada’s busiest port in Vancouver. In a letter posted on the union’s website late Friday, International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada President Rob Ashton said workers in the province are now calling on their employers to “come to the table” and negotiate directly, instead of doing so through the BC Maritime Employers Association. The vote to reject the contract raises the prospect of back-to-work legislation to end the uncertainty at more than 30 port terminals and other sites. The four-year agreement between the union and maritime employers went to a vote of about 7,400 workers on Thursday and Friday, after union leaders presented the deal to local chapters on Tuesday. The deal worked out with federal mediators had put a temporary halt to a 13-day strike that had commenced Jul...

HEAT ADVISORY THROUGH SUNDAY 8PM

Published Mon, 25 Nov 2024 10:15:02 GMT

HEAT ADVISORY THROUGH SUNDAY 8PM Since we won’t see much rain this weekend, the heat will be on! That is why NWS Miami has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for Broward and Miami-Dade until Sunday evening. Temperatures will feel between 105 to 110 degrees and that can easily lead to heat exhaustion. Therefore, try and stay cool by drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in the shade. Passing showers possible early Saturday, but at least we will get a break from the heavy downpours and storms. Best chance of seeing rain and storms is for inland locations into Southwest Florida. However, this means highs will be a touch hotter than yesterday in the low 90’s & feeling like the triple digits. The pattern remains the same for Sunday. Our air flow will be South to Southwesterly early next week bringing the heat up another notch. Models are showing highs in the mid 90’s with feels like temperatures possibly in the danger zone. Hopefully with a little more moisture from the tropics and steering winds...

Wagner fighters may pose as migrants to enter EU, Polish PM claims A group of Wagner mercenaries in Belarus has moved closer to the Polish border and may stage a “hybrid attack” inside the EU country by posing as illegal migrants, Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki warned.Speaking at a press conference in southern Poland on Saturday, Morawiecki said that more than 100 mercenaries had moved close to the city of Grodno, near the Suwałki Gap — a narrow strategic stretch of Polish and Lithuanian territory that separates Belarus from the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.“They will probably be disguised as Belarusian border guards and will help illegal immigrants to enter Polish territory, destabilize Poland,” Morawiecki said, according to Polish public broadcaster TVP.The Wagner members would also likely “try to infiltrate Poland pretending to be illegal immigrants,” he added, saying the situation had become “more dangerous.”In 2021, Warsaw and Brussels accused the Belarusian government and its Russian backers of seeking to sow instabil...
